The Finance Manager is absolutely amazing – genuinely, I met her and thought, I’d love to go for a drink with you after work! She is an amazing manager who has high expectations of her staff; she wants the job done and she wants the job done well but she also knows how to let her hair down with her team and have a laugh in the office!

For context, I went down to meet them, and she’d bought everyone lunch, told everyone to box off 2-3pm in their diaries so they could go for a team walk and grab some fresh air… she really is so invested in her team and its wellbeing.

So, whether you have 6 months’ Purchase Ledger experience or 6 years, that’s not the be all and end all for her, as long as you have the right attitude and application to your work, she wants to meet you.

She’s so big on “relationships” and this extends further than internal – she wants you to actually build relationships with suppliers, pick up the phone, find out how they’re doing, don’t just fire an email – that doesn’t work at this business – they want a friendly voice behind the name.
