This is an SME business who value their staff, everyone knows each other on a first name basis, this isn’t a huge corporate machine where you’re just a number.
The role is available due to the Finance Manager retiring, so the MD is looking at this as a fantastic opportunity for a fresh set of eyes to come in and give finance a new lease of life, in the form of process improvement, system updates and general modernisation of manual tasks.
He’s keen to see you implement new tech, new collaborative dashboards and ways to make processes slicker between departments. Someone with the nouse to business partner with sales and marketing to understand how we can operate on a more collaborative level, increased coms and increased visibility. Someone who wants to seriously get to understands the business end-to-end.
The MD isn’t shy in saying this will be challenging role for someone, but the pay-back will be huge. Not only in satisfaction of your achievements but also in the reward of promotion. The business is growing so as the team expands the plan is for you to develop into a FD role, you will then recruit your replacement and grow the team around business need.
At the moment, the finance team consists of an Assistant MA and two Ledger Clerks, you will assume full management of this team, initially your role will be to:
- Finalise the Management Accounts Pack, completing all the variance analysis and commentary
- Run a full ERP system implementation, currently using SAGE 50 they want to upgrade to a slicker platform
- Drive the continuous improvement of end-to-end accounting practices
- Lead on all budgeting and forecasting.
- Leading the analysis of monthly and quarterly numbers and presenting findings to the board
