I’m coming back into the office after meeting with an exceptional MD and business feeling energised, refreshed and like I’d love to work there!

This SME business (£5mil t/o) is seriously going places under the leadership of a phenomenal MD who has overhauled the business over the last year, modernising processes, refurbing the offices into nothing short of a “show home” environment and creating a slick framework for finance for you to build on when you join.

The offices are ultra-modern and have been designed to reflect the slick set-ups of the city centre, as the MD puts it, “I wanted to create an environment where you’d actually want to come into!”. Cool chill out areas, function rooms to entertain clients, brand new fancy coffee machine and facilities – I’m not exaggerating when I say this is a show home. Moreover the aesthetic, the atmosphere is collaborative, open, warm and welcoming – The perfect set-up to thrive in.

They are looking for someone ready to take total ownership of the finance function from the ground up, as the MD is far too involved in the accounts and needs to step away from the function. You’ll be covering everything from the ledgers up to management accounts production on a monthly basis for the MD and Board. This is a standalone role, so you’ll need to be comfortable with getting involved in all aspects of accounts and working autonomously – SME experience is key.

On your profile, the MD is looking for someone inquisitive, not afraid to ask questions and someone proactive. In her words “if you look and a process and think it could be done better, go for it, I’ll be right behind your improvements and suggestions.” The accounting framework and processing runs off Sage 50, with additional cloud software for POs and invoice processing – They’ve made things as automated as they can. You’ll be empowered to take on projects outside of your day-to-day remit, it’s certainly a role where you’ll be able to add your own stamp to the role.

The MD champions slick reporting, visualization tools and modern tech and she have a clear growth strategy set for the next 3years, this is set up and ready to be achieved they just require the last part of the infrastructure (YOU) in place in order to manage the growth.
