Director of Tax Strategy and Advice
Fully Remote (office working is available)
£100,000 – £150,000 plus bonus
The Opportunity:
One of the fastest growing and exciting firms of accountants in the UK are looking to hire a Director of Tax Strategy and Advice to help drive their advisory team forward.
Their social platforms is the most followed and engaged in the UK tax advisory space; and the firm is going places fast.
Led by a high profile, ambitious owner they are leading the way in terms of ‘modern practices;’ their growth is phenomenal and they are now looking for someone who can head up, manage and grow this team.
You’ll work directly with the CEO and leadership team to shape the vision, performance, and profitability of the advisory function, while maintaining the strategic integrity of their Tax Efficiency Audits – comprehensive planning engagements designed to optimise their clients’ business and personal tax positions.
The role can be fully remote (or from their offices in Manchester); there are share options/ equity available along with a very competitive package and bonuses.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the Tax Advisory Department, including corporate, personal, and international tax planning
- Lead and develop a team of Corporate Tax Advisors – providing technical review, mentorship, and performance management
- Maintain oversight of all strategic tax work, ensuring quality, compliance, and client clarity
- Collaborate with the CEO on department KPIs, growth targets, and revenue goals
- Identify commercial opportunities within the client base and drive advisory-led revenue growth
- Shape the evolution of the Tax Efficiency Audit process and supporting services
- Act as the senior technical contact for complex client cases and structural planning reviews
- Drive operational improvements to increase output, turnaround times, and team efficiency
Requirements
- Extensive UK and international tax advisory experience, ideally within entrepreneurial or fast-growth firms
- CTA-qualified (or equivalent); ACA/ACCA additional qualifications welcome.
- Deep understanding of corporate, personal, and cross-border tax strategy.
- Proven ability to review and sign off high-value planning work.
- Commercial mindset – understands how tax advice supports broader business and personal objectives.
- Exceptional communication skills – able to advise founders, directors, and high-net-worth clients with confidence
- Comfortable operating at both strategic and technical levels, with a clear eye on growth, quality, and value creation
