You will oversee one junior accountant that has been with the business some time so they require very little support or management; and reporting into the Managing Director you will be given the freedom to look at the existing processes and make any improvements or suggestions that you think will help.
Having supported the business to recruit the current Finance Manager over 5 years ago this position is only available due to retirement; and it’s a real opportunity for someone to join the business off the back of a successful financial year and help the owners gear up and navigate their next phase of growth.
For any ambitious accountants still on their career journey it will give you the opportunity to operate at a senior level within a business, leading the monthly finance meetings and helping to create business strategies based on the numbers. You will see growth, expansion and ensure the business is at the forefront when it comes to their accounting software and operations.
For anyone that is more focussed on job satisfaction, stability or even work life balance it offers all of these too. The company need someone to work 30 hours a week either 4 full days or spread over 5, and they are happy to accommodate and work around commitments you may have outside of work.
Finally the bonusβ¦.
Although performance related this has been paid every year and has been as much as Β£18,000 to the senior leadership team – so it represents a significant uplift on your basic salary and is testament to how much the business invests back in their staff.
A full job specification is available however here is a highlight of your responsibilities:
- Managing all aspects of the finance function, including financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, P&L and reporting.
- Monitoring cash flow, financial performance, and weekly forecasting of the business.
- Preparing and presenting accurate and timely financial statements/reports to the Managing Director
- Management of VAT returns and payments
