You would join the Finance Director as their Assistant Accountant, initial finance onboarding of systems & processes to be expected. You would assume responsibly for the full ledgers, nominals, trial balance, forecasting and management accounting.
An e-commerce business with a current turnover of £8M the company is just about to launch in the US (Aug2024) and as such this is where the growth comes in.
After 12 months as the Assistant Accountant they are going to give you the opportunity to become the Management Accountant, taking full responsibility for the production and presentation of management accounts to the senior leadership team, providing commentary and analysis for UK, Europe and US.
Part of your role of Management Accountant will then require you to run a system implementation with the Finance Director, this project would be anticipated to take 6 months and from here would revolutionise the current reporting processes.
Here we have the next step for your career as you jump to Finance Business Partner, leaving behind any of the monthly churn of accounts and sit at the top table challenging efficiency, performance, building commercial relationships internationally and supporting finance and non-finance in core decision making.
In essence this role is clearly defined at each stage and would be expected that within 3-5 years you would have achieved all of the above and become a fully qualified accountant.
This is a growing role and growing company so you have to be an individual excited about working within a rapidly expanding business and not be afraid of “keeping up”.
