An independent, family run accountancy practice based in Hulme, Manchester, is currently looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper. You would play an important role as part of a small team responsible for providing a full spectrum of accounting and financial advice to businesses of various sizes, from sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

The Role
Reporting to and working closely alongside senior members of the practice, you would be responsible for the bookkeeping and preparation of VAT returns and Payroll using Xero, Quickbooks, Sage and Excel spreadsheets on behalf of a mixed portfolio of clients, ensuring all receive a top quality service. Work will include carrying out monthly or quarterly bookkeeping tasks for clients working in various sectors; preparing VAT returns; preparation of accounts to trial balance; and the preparation of management accounts for selected clients. You will receive comprehensive on the job training in all of this and study support if required.

The Candidate
The role will suit an experienced bookkeeper with strong VAT knowledge, ideally ACA/ACCA/AAT qualified, although those QBE (qualified by experience) are also encouraged to apply. Newly qualified candidates looking for an opportunity to develop their skills will also be considered. Practice experience is essential.
You will be a well organised individual, able to multitask and prioritise a workload effectively, with strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail. This is a client-facing role so excellent communication skills and the confidence to liaise with people at all levels will be required. Good IT skills are essential, experience in Xero, Quickbooks and Sage is ideal.
