I had the pleasure of supporting this business just before the start of the pandemic in placing this exact role – and now that very employee has just been promoted to Financial Controller.
What that means is the person supporting and mentoring you has done this very role and knows it inside out so there really is no better training ground.
You will be the go-to person in the team for all things transactional finance with your role absorbing both the sales ledger / credit control & purchase ledger and once you are competent with all processes, you will be encouraged to get stuck into month-end processes.
This is exactly the path the FC followed and she is now producing full sets of management accounts, producing MI Packs and reporting schedules and then presenting to the FC.
If this is where you see yourself in the next 2 weeks then this is proof that this is entirely possible.
The business is actually growing at a rapid pace and already acquiring new entities so there will be ample opportunity for you to grow, develop and progress with regular meetings & appraisals scheduled in in order for you to discuss this with the Directors.
To support you in your career, you will receive a full study package to complete the AAT – there is then the opportunity to discuss plans to complete the ACCA/ CIMA as the business fully celebrates and encourages employees who are always looking to upskill.
